Spring into Cranleigh 27 April 2019 10am to 4pm

Cranleigh Chamber of Commerce, organisers of the village-wide shopping event, have registered an application with Guinness World Records to win the title of “Largest display of painted pebbles/stones”.

Spring into Cranleigh will feature the exciting world record attempt along with an Italian market, food stalls, live music and promotions from local shops.

The display will be built in Fountain Square between 9am and 2pm, with VIP guests laying special painted pebbles at regular intervals throughout the day. Our independent judges will then verify the record attempt at 2pm, with the display remaining open for viewing between 2pm and 4pm.

At 4pm, the painted pebble display will be carefully packed away by our group of volunteers. Painted pebbles will be handed out, randomly, on a first come, first served basis. We hope you will take some painted pebbles away and hide them around the village at a later date, in order to continue the Cranleigh Rocks game!

David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Christmas Concert 2018

Cromwells was delighted to be the Title Sponsor of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation Christmas Concert 2018 which was held at St Nicholas Church, Cranleigh on the evening of 18 December.

Around 200 people were entertained by the lovely voices of Laura Wright and Cranleigh Prep School Chamber Choir and by the piano of Richard Saxel.  There were a number of speakers, including ex England cricketer David Gower, who all related some amusing anecdotes to suit the occassion.

Guests retired to the nearby Cranleigh Arts Centre where mulled wine was served as a perfect accompaniment to the delicious warm homemade mince pies and pigs-on-horseback, courtesy of Cromwells.

Flamenco Guitar Duo – Saturday, 29 September, from 1pm

Flamenco Guitar Duo – Saturday, 29 September, from 1pm

Cromwell’s welcomes back the delightful flamenco guitar playing of the Julian Everett and Geoff Carlier duo, also known as ‘Jaleo’. Jaleo play a mix of flamenco, Spanish and acoustic guitar music.

Listen to their soothing music whilst you enjoy your homemade food and drinks.

Julian and Geoff are flamenco guitarists based in Dorking. Julian has been playing the guitar for over thirty years, and studied styles including blues, jazz and funk before falling in love with the music of southern Spain. The name ‘Jaleo’ comes from the flamenco term for the enthusiastic cheering and clapping which powers spontaneous flamenco performance in the late night bars of southern Spain.

Julian and Geoff have played as a duo a number of times at Cromwell’s and really shouldn’t be missed!  Do come along and join in the fun and enjoy the music, food and drink.
